Care Comparison
Assisted Living vs. Memory Care in Calgary
Assisted living and memory care can sound similar, but they are designed for different needs.
What assisted living means
Assisted living supports seniors who want a private suite and community lifestyle but need help with daily tasks such as medication reminders, bathing support, dressing support, mobility help, laundry, transportation, and wellness checks.
What memory care means
Memory care supports people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or significant memory changes who need a more structured and secure environment with trained staff, routine-based programming, cueing, and safety-focused layouts.
If your loved one is mostly safe and needs help mainly with physical tasks, assisted living may be enough. If wandering, confusion, unsafe cooking, or increasing agitation are concerns, memory care may be safer.
