St. Teresa Place

Named in honour of St. Teresa of Calcutta, St. Teresa Place is a nonprofit seniors care community in Calgary’s northeast Redstone neighbourhood. Operated by Covenant Care, the residence brings a faith-inspired philosophy of compassion, dignity and respect to older adults who require ongoing personal care or specialized dementia support.

One of the community’s distinguishing features is its neighbourhood-style design. Although St. Teresa Place accommodates 250 residents, the building is organized into smaller residential groups, helping create a more familiar setting for daily meals, activities and interactions. The residence includes 198 supportive living spaces and 52 dedicated memory care suites.

St. Teresa Place provides Continuing Care Home Type B services, with Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides available around the clock. Care is coordinated with Alberta Health Services and tailored to each resident’s assessed needs. For individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, a separate secure memory care area offers enhanced supervision, structured support and access to protected outdoor spaces.

The community’s approach extends beyond physical care. Chaplaincy services, recreation therapy and opportunities for spiritual reflection support residents’ emotional and social well-being. Residents can enjoy landscaped courtyards, walking paths, garden areas and shared gathering spaces, while organized activities encourage participation according to individual interests and abilities.

As part of Alberta’s publicly funded continuing care system, admission to St. Teresa Place is coordinated through Alberta Health Services following an eligibility assessment. Accommodation charges follow provincial guidelines, while eligible healthcare services are publicly funded.
